Material selection analysis of brake hub

       Brake hub is an important part of the brake system of oil rig and workover rig, which is related to the safety and reliability of the whole rig and workover rig. Brake hub surface friction with the brake belt when braking, the instantaneous surface temperature can reach more than 800C, because the brake hub cavity design has the cooling effect of circulating water jacket, the surface temperature after loosening the brake in 3-5 seconds rapidly reduced. The periodic heating and cooling of the brake hub is subjected to alternating thermal stress, phase change stress and friction, and its normal failure form is excessive wear and thermal fatigue surface cracking after the life period, so the brake hub material requires both higher strength and toughness, wear resistance and thermal fatigue resistance, and requires better welding performance.
       In particular, the cast iron brake hub material used by more than 9 tons of heavy trucks, the main way of failure is cracking caused by cold and thermal fatigue, therefore, to replace the pearlite matrix gray cast iron with ferrite matrix ductile iron or vermicular iron to make the brake hub, so that its strength and toughness, resistance to cold and thermal fatigue and service life are significantly improved.
       In the processing and production, the heat treatment method is the tempering treatment after the rough car: tempering temperature 550℃, after the end of the machine, the heat treatment tempering temperature 350℃, after repeated tests, reasonable selection of chemical components and the amount of elements, improve the wear resistance and anti-cracking of the brake parts, the life of the parts is extended by nearly 2 times; Reasonable selection of casting, machining and heat treatment processes to improve material performance.
