The effect of brake hub quenching
The nature of the use of the brake hub requires that it should have a certain strength, and in the actual production of parts manufacturers will enhance the strength of the brake hub by quenching. So, what is the effect of quenching?
In order to make the metal workpiece such as the brake hub have the required mechanical properties, physical properties and chemical properties, in addition to the reasonable selection of materials and various forming processes, the heat treatment process is often essential. The role of quenching is to improve the mechanical properties of the material, eliminate residual stress and improve the machinability of the metal. Quenching generally does not change the shape of the workpiece and the overall chemical composition, but by changing the internal microstructure of the workpiece, or changing the chemical composition of the workpiece surface, giving or improving the performance of the workpiece. It is characterized by improving the intrinsic quality of the workpiece, which is generally not visible to the naked eye.
Through quenching and tempering at different temperatures, the strength, toughness and fatigue strength of the metal can be greatly improved, and the coordination between these properties (comprehensive mechanical properties) can be obtained to meet different requirements. In addition, quenching can also make some special properties of steel to obtain certain physical and chemical properties, such as quenching to enhance the ferromagnetism of permanent magnetic steel, stainless steel to improve its corrosion resistance.
The rapid cooling during quenching will produce internal stress within the workpiece, and when it is large to a certain extent, the workpiece will be distorted and deformed or even cracked. For this reason, a suitable cooling method must be selected. According to the cooling method, the quenching process is divided into four categories: single liquid quenching, double medium quenching, martensite grading quenching and bainite isothermal quenching.
